Attorney Profile

Nancy K. Brodzki is the founding partner and sole practitioner in the law firm of Nancy K. Brodzki, PA. She was born in Savannah, Georgia in 1960. She was admitted to practice law in Florida in January, 1986 and devotes all of her professional time to collaborative family law, family mediation, family law litigation and serving as Guardian Ad Litem for children in family cases. Family law includes divorce, paternity, children’s issues, support, modification, enforcement, name change, domestic violence injunctions and step-parent adoption.

Ms. Brodzki is a graduate of Newcomb College of Tulane University of New Orleans where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1982. She pursued her law degree at the University Of Miami School Of Law,

graduating with honors in 1985. Prior to focusing her career on family law, Ms. Brodzki practiced general civil litigation, and as lead trial attorney with a subrogation law firm, took hundreds of property damage cases to trial in County and Circuit Court in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties.

Since deciding to devote her practice exclusively to family law, Ms. Brodzki has concentrated on finding new and better ways to assist clients with the emotional toll that divorce and family litigation inevitably entails. Having a background in psychology and using a therapeutic approach with her clients, and having had an amicable divorce of her own, she guides her clients toward settlement of their family law disputes rather than encouraging damaging and expensive litigation. She has served as a neutral mediator for couples who wish to settle their issues without hiring attorneys, and she has mediated cases where both parties had their own attorney. Ms. Brodzki is an enthusiastic proponent of collaborative law as a preferred model for divorcing couples. First conceived in 1990 in Minnesota and now gaining in popularity in Florida, collaborative law has become an important part of Ms. Brodzki’s practice. The inter-disciplinary model uses an attorney for each party, a neutral mental health professional who moderates the joint meetings and works with the parties on parenting plans and time-sharing schedules, if applicable, and a neutral financial professional who assists in developing financial options for the divorcing couple. In a few joint meetings, the parties and their “team” work together to settle the divorce in an atmosphere designed to reduce animosity and engender cooperation between the parties. This team approach greatly reduces the time involved in the process.

Ms. Brodzki is a member of the International Association of Collaborative Professionals, the Collaborative Family Lawyers Association of South Florida, the Broward County Matrimonial Lawyers Association, the Family Law Section of the Florida Bar, the Broward County Women Lawyers Association and the Broward County Bar Association, where she serves on the Professionalism Committee.

As an active community volunteer, Ms. Brodzki was President of Temple Beth Am in Margate, Florida from 2005-2007, and has served that institution in a wide range of capacities over the past several years. Ms. Brodzki is married with four children and two step-children and she lives in Coral Springs, Florida.
